White: SEC to Repropose Ban Against Conflicts of Interest in ABS Deals

During a U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs hearing on June 14th, Mary Jo White, Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), stated that the SEC is currently working on a reproposal of their 2011 proposedprohibition against conflicts of interest in certain securitizations. The reproposal is aimed at barring bets against ABS deals to eliminate conflicts of interest.
