S&P Global Ratings Publishes Global Structured Finance Year-in-Review 2016 Report

S&P Global Ratings published its global structured finance 2016 year-in-review report on Friday, December 16th. According to the overview, full-year 2016 U.S. structured finance issuance came in at $372 billion, down 15 percent year-over-year from 2015, although issuance volumes generally increased toward the end of the year. Overall credit quality was stable. Canadian issuance in 2016 was 20 percent higher and the European figure came in at a post-crisis high of €80 billion. Europe also saw their first NPL issuance, which could increase overall issuance volume by 50 percent in 2017. The Asia-Pacific region also saw strong growth, with both China and Japan recording stronger structured finance issuance levels in 2016 than in the previous two years.
