SFIG Sends Letter to Senate Banking Committee on GSE Reform

On Friday, March 2nd, SFIG sent a letter to Senate Banking Committee members Bob Corker (R-Tn.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) to thank them for their efforts in working on GSE reform legislation, and to offer feedback on a draft version of the Bill that SFIG has reviewed. This letter comes after SFIG staff met with Senate Banking Committee staff, and includes suggestions for maintaining liquidity in a future secondary mortgage market.

SFIG believes that the future secondary market should include transparent risk-based fees, a level playing field between government funding and private capital, measures to ensure countercyclical liquidity, access to credit at competitive rates throughout the credit cycle, and fully-funded affordable housing provision. SFIG will continue to work with legislators, regulators, and policymakers on this important issue.
