SFIG Meets with Chinese Regulators in Beijing

SFIG staff met with a number of regulators in Beijing, China on November 24th and 25th to discuss various aspects of the Chinese securitization market, with a focus on how to support ongoing growth in that market.

Meetings were held with the People’s Bank of China, National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, the China Banking Industry Credit Asset Registration & Exchange Center, and the Asset Management Association of China.

Specific areas of conversation included: the development of the secondary market, removing barriers to cross-border investment, the benefits of harmonization and standardization at both a local and a global level, and a review of SFIG’s A Comprehensive Guide to U.S. Securitization White Paper. The White Paper was initially released by SFIG’s Chinese Market Committee during the Annual Conference of the China Securitization Forum (CSF) in April 2016. A Chinese version of the Paper is currently being finalized and will be presented at the 2017 CSF Conference.
