SFIG Meets with Chairman Bill Huizenga

On Thursday, February 16th, SFIG staff met with Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-MI) and members of his team to discuss SFIG's policy priorities in the 115th Congress. Rep. Huizenga recently became Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities & Investment.

The discussion with the Chairman centered on the opportunity this Congress to reevaluate the current financial regulatory landscape. A primary area of focus was where the current regulatory framework neither recognizes nor gives credit for good behavior. An example which was provided is the lack of liquidity credit afforded to ABS. SFIG staff also highlighted that the current framework subjects market participants to very punitive capital requirements.

SFIG appreciated Chairman Huizenga's willingness to discuss the state of the market and related key policy topics, and looks forward to working with him and his team going forward.
