SEC Chair White Resists GOP Pressure to Stall Pending Rules

According to a Reuters report, SEC Chair Mary Jo White stood firm against Republican lawmakers urging her to delay adopting new rules on everything from derivatives to mutual funds until after President-elect Donald Trump takes office, outlining the SEC’s remaining agenda in a letter to Sens. Richard Shelby (R-AL) and Mike Crapo (R-ID).

In the letter, White stressed it was "incumbent" on the independent regulator's ethics to proceed finalizing rules. She also provided a list of final rules that are ready for a vote, including derivatives reforms mandated by Dodd-Frank. The letter did not say when the SEC might vote on the rules.
