Record Week, Strong Start to the Year Signals a Robust ABS Market

Last week, 19 issuers priced 22 deals in the ABS primary market, totaling $12.3 billion. The last time weekly issuance topped $12B was March of last year when $12.7B was priced, according to a Bloomberg article.

It has been an active year for the ABS primary market with a year-to-date volume of $61.3 billion running 34.4% higher than last year. The auto sector has largely driven this month’s new issuance volume with a month-to-date total of $7.27 billion, followed by credit cards at $4.69 billion, student loans at $2.28B, and esoterics/other at $3.27 billion.
