President Trump Announces Nominations for Two Key Posts

According to a Reuters article, Fannie Mae General Counsel Brian Brooks will be appointed Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Department. Mr. Brooks previously worked with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin at OneWest Bank. According to the article, the position will play a role in driving tax reform and other major agenda items. Writing on the reported appointment, HousingWire suggests that the addition of Brooks would be welcome news at Treasury, which has had trouble filling key positions, and notes that if Brooks makes it through the Senate confirmation process, he would provide much needed support at the Department.

In addition, on Friday, June 9th, the White House announced its intention to nominate Dawn DeBerry Stump to fill a Republican vacancy on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, according to another Reuters article.

Stump, a former senior staffer on the Senate Agriculture Committee and current president of Stump Strategic, a consulting firm, is slated to serve a term expiring June 19, 2021, if confirmed.
