Illinois State Officials Building Blockchain Strategy

The state government of Illinois has established a working group focused on a development strategy for integrating blockchain technology, according to a recent CoinDesk article.

The working group’s mandate is to identify the ways that blockchain could make government services more efficient, while at the same time making it easier for citizens to do business with state agencies.

Anna Melissa Dowling, Director of Illinois’ Department of Insurance, says her office is engaged in an aggressive self-education campaign, with the goal of being among the first agencies in the U.S. to utilize blockchain.

"Right now we’re trying to determine if we become a first mover in this space by developing a distributed ledger vision for government. But we’re doing a lot of listening and learning," she said.
