HUD Secretary Carson Testifies Before House Financial Services Committee

On Wednesday, June 27, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson testified before the House Financial Services Committee. While the initial focus of the hearing was to examine HUD and its level of success in executing federal housing policy, members of the committee were quickly sidetracked by a discussion on civility in political discourse. HUD’s budget and the elimination of anti-discriminatory language in HUD’s mission statement were points of contention during the hearing. “Hensarling explained this [HUD’s] failure is not for lack of resources, saying HUD’s budget has grown faster than almost every other federal budget function” reports HousingWire.
