House Financial Services Committee to Release Bipartisan GSE Reform Bill

Politico’s Morning Money writes that House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) plans to release a bipartisan housing finance reform bill when Congress resumes after the August 2018 recess. Hensarling, who is not seeking re-election, noted that the Bill is unlikely to proceed in this Congress. “I don’t anticipate we will necessarily be marking up a bill,” he said. “But I think I will roll out a bipartisan bill that they can work on in the next Congress when I’m gone.” In addition to circulating the bill, Chairman Hensarling noted that he plans to hold hearings on Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the FHFA.
