House Financial Services Committee Announces Leadership Team

On Friday, January 6th, the House Financial Services Committee announced its slate of leadership positions for the 115th Congress.

According to the release (and most notable for SFIG), Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) will chair the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities and Investment and Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) will serve as the new Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.

Historically the Capital Markets Subcommittee has been the primary jurisdictional home for securitization policy issues, although it is expected that housing finance reform will be run through the Housing Subcommittee. Reps. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) and Dennis Ross (R-FL) were named Vice Chairmen of the Capital Markets and Housing Subcommittees respectively.
