GSEs Tighten Capital Rules for Private Mortgage Insurers

According to a piece in Asset Securitization Report, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have issued new capital requirements for private mortgage insurers. To most, the largest change is the removal of future premiums from the calculation of risked-based capital. Mortgage insurers now caution that the new rules could result in materially lower capitalization.
