Global Blockchain Revenues Growing

The global blockchain distributed ledger market accounted for $228 million in 2016, and usage of distributed ledger technology is expected to grow exponentially over the next six years, according to a Traders Magazine article.

The article mentions that last year, North America led the pack in terms of blockchain generated revenue, as the region accounted for more than 40 percent of total global market share. It is estimated that between 2017 and 2023, blockchain generated revenue will grow to $5.43 billion, representing growth at a compound annual growth rate of 57.6 percent.

Earlier this year, SFIG announced a partnership with the Chamber of Digital Commerce (CDC) focused on advancing the use of blockchain technology in securitization markets. Last year, SFIG launched a Blockchain Task Force, which is working to identify and enable opportunities within structured finance where blockchain may enhance capital markets transparency, investor confidence, and sustainable liquidity driven by education, advocacy, ecosystem development, and applications and use cases.
