DBRS: Canadian Securitization Market Report

On Tuesday, May 30th, DBRS released the Canadian Securitization Market Overview report for the month of March 2017. The report shows the total amount outstanding in the Canadian securitization market, as of March 2017, was $82.7 billion, which is lower than last month's $85.0 billion. During the month, the total outstanding amount of ABCP fell to $35.4 billion. DBRS notes that, "(t)he credit quality of the underlying collateral remains strong. Nonetheless, the high level of household indebtedness remains a significant cause for concern because it leaves Canadian households more vulnerable to cash flow shortages, as currently seen in resource-dependent provinces. Performance will continue to depend largely on the health of the Canadian economy; however, outstanding notes are enhanced sufficiently to withstand volatility."
