CFPB Director Stepping Down

The Washington Post reported that Richard Cordray, Obama-appointed Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), announced yesterday, November 15th, he will step down at the end of this month. His term as Director does not end until summer 2018, but it has been long speculated he will run for governor of Ohio next year. Cordray previously served as attorney general in Ohio before becoming Director of the CFPB.

Cordray's resignation gives President Trump an opportunity to reshape an agency that oversees a significant portion of the financial industry.
