Structured Finance Industry Group, Inc. (SFIG) is a member-based, trade industry advocacy group focused on improving and strengthening the broader structured finance and securitization market. SFIG provides an inclusive network for securitization professionals to collaborate and, as industry leaders, drive necessary changes, be an advocate for the securitization community, share best practices and innovative ideas, and educate industry members through conferences and other programs. Members of SFIG represent all sectors of the securitization market including issuers, investors, financial intermediaries, law firms, accounting firms, technology firms, rating agencies, servicers, and trustees. Formed in March 2013, our institutional membership totals approximately 370 members, represented by a Board of Directors totaling 42 members selected from all membership constituencies. Additional leadership is provided by an executive committee, including Officers of the Board of Directors, select Board members and the Executive Director.

While the Membership of SFIG is geographically diverse, with a concentration in New York, the operational headquarters are based in Washington, DC – close to the majority of SFIG’s regulatory and legislative audiences.

To facilitate broad inclusion of its Membership, SFIG encourages its Members to assume an active role in SFIG advocacy efforts by joining member committees and task forces, which are designed to cover a wide variety of topics relevant to the securitization industry. Members drive the agenda of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities would include:

While the HR Generalist is accountable for the areas outlined below, they play an oversight role as well in terms of ensuring adherence to these processes and escalating concerns to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer as needed.

  • Lead recruiting and on-boarding of talent, in partnership with hiring managers
  • Ensure role descriptions and core competencies are current and accurately reflect the needs of each role and its contribution to the success of the organization
  • Enable the performance management process
  • Enable the compensation management process, including maintaining market compensation data for each role, providing analysis to aid manager and comp decisions. 
  • Enable management to calibrate year-end performance reviews, ratings and supporting compensation decisions.
  • Enable organizational talent assessments, including fit in role, succession planning, promotion readiness, etc.
  • Enable routine HR reporting to the COO for the Executive Committee of the Board.
  • Develop and manage Employee Communications and Engagement, including Learning and Development activities.
  • Serve as the Employee Relations leader, both as a trusted advisor to the management team and as a confidential point of escalation for employees.
  • Own the HR issue management process, ensuring that issues are addressed in a manner that maintains the highest standard of employee conduct.
  • Own the Exit Interview and off-boarding processes for employees leaving the organization, addressing HR issues as needed.
  • Partner with the Management Team and CEO to establish, maintain, communicate and enforce HR policies with consistency and fairness.
  • Escalate to the COO and CEO (and Executive Committee, to the degree needed) to ensure HR concerns are addressed as needed. Escalation directly to the Executive Committee is expected if needed.
  • Serve as SFIG’s primary liaison with its PEO provider for payroll and benefits administration.
  • Maintain employee policies and handbook.

Qualifications and Requirements

Professional & Educational Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree


  • 7+ years in Human Resources
  • Experience operating and influencing at an Executive level
  • Strong executive and employee level communications skills
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive matters with integrity
  • Balanced problem solver and ability to mediate sensitive matters
  • Strong process management and analytical acumen
  • Role is based in Washington, DC

Not Required, but Preferred:

  • Experience in Generalist or Organizational Effectiveness roles
  • Experience driving organizational and cultural change
