Structured Finance Industry Group, Inc. (SFIG) is a member-based, trade industry advocacy group focused on improving and strengthening the broader structured finance and securitization market. SFIG provides an inclusive network for securitization professionals to collaborate and, as industry leaders, drive necessary changes, be an advocate for the securitization community, share best practices and innovative ideas, and educate industry members through conferences and other programs. Members of SFIG represent all sectors of the securitization market including issuers, investors, financial intermediaries, law firms, accounting firms, technology firms, rating agencies, servicers, and trustees. Formed in March 2013, our institutional membership totals approximately 370 members, represented by a Board of Directors totaling 42 members selected from all membership constituencies. Additional leadership is provided by an executive committee, including Officers of the Board of Directors, select Board members and the Executive Director.

While the Membership of SFIG is geographically diverse, with a concentration in New York, the operational headquarters are based in Washington, DC – close to the majority of SFIG’s regulatory and legislative audiences.

To facilitate broad inclusion of its Membership, SFIG encourages its Members to assume an active role in SFIG advocacy efforts by joining member committees and task forces, which are designed to cover a wide variety of topics relevant to the securitization industry. Members drive the agenda of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities would include:

  • Help develop and execute assigned advocacy strategies for a number of SFIG policy priorities.
  • Cultivate, maintain, and grow key relationships on Capitol Hill, with relevant departments and agencies, and with key political fundraisers and party committees. 
  • Monitor, analyze, and track legislative and emerging policy issues affecting the structured finance industry.
  • Work with SFIG policy staff and membership to develop responses to legislative proposals affecting the securitization and structured finance industry.
  • Effectively communicate with policymakers and opinion leaders with regard to SFIG’s policy positions to drive legislative and regulatory outcomes.
  • Attend Congressional hearings and report back to executive staff and members.
  • Prepare advocacy materials for presentation to policymakers, executive staff, members and the Board of Directors.
  • Serve as liaison to the SFIG Government Relations Committee and Structured Finance Coalition Board. Provide reports on activities and ensure the timely posting of meeting notices, minutes, and agendas.
  • Support the association’s SF PAC through strategy development, fundraising efforts, and administration.
  • Develop and execute marketing materials, fundraising strategies, and solicitation campaigns to build awareness of and support for the SFC and SF PAC amongst SFIG members.
  • Manage the SFC member and SF PAC donor databases, maintain organized records of all SF PAC receipts and expenditures, manage disbursement of all SF PAC contributions, handle SF PAC correspondence, and produce internal SFC and SF PAC reports and analyses.
  • Maintain SFC and SF PAC websites.  Identify, write, and design innovative communications for targeted audiences regarding SFC and SF PAC.
  • Attend fundraisers and events on behalf of SF PAC.
  • Track election information and provide updates throughout an election cycle.
  • Facilitate committee meetings, manage contact lists and ensure smooth logistics for calls and legislative meetings.
  • Provide general support for conference preparation and related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned to support Government Relations and overall SFIG efforts.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a “roll your sleeves up” attitude and support various additional operational needs.  

Qualifications and Requirements

Professional & Educational Requirements


  • An undergraduate degree is required. Degree in communications, political science and/or public policy preferred.


  • Recent tenure (within the last 3 years) as a Congressional staffer, preferably with the House Financial Services Committee or Senate Banking Committee, or federal advocacy experience as a government relations professional within the finance industry or within a finance-related trade organization.
  • Experience with a Political Action Committee, including administration, development and implementation of effective PAC fundraising and event planning, and disbursement management.  Relationships with bipartisan fundraisers a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lobby Disclosure Act reporting requirements & House and Senate Ethics Rules, Campaign Finance Laws and lobby regulations, and FEC filings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Federal legislative process.
  • Network of contacts consistent with level of experience.
  • Experience conducting PAC fundraising solicitations involving multiple executive level communications and creating new and engaging content for distribution preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high quality and timely work product.
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office Suite required, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
